RAF Gee type 62 indicator unit Lancaster bomber

RAF Gee type 62 indicator unit Lancaster bomber

Code: 10286

SOLD

A RAF "Gee" type 62 indicator unit as used on heavy bombers such as the Lancaster. The "Gee" was a hyperbolic radio navigation system helping the bombers navigate over Germandy. The indicator was located at the Navigator's position and with the help of a special map, helped to pinpoint the location of the aircraft to about a mile accuracy. This particular indicator has probaby been converted to an oscilloscope after the war so the electronics are no longer original. The exterior has been brought back more or less to it's original configuration (tag plate replaced), so the unit is sold for display purposes only.
